You’ve probably heard that the Occupy Wall Street movement recently hit Bozeman. We’re sure there are well-meaning people involved but some are either directionless and many lean far left. If you too are upset by the glorified media given to the Occupy Wall Street movement–especially when compared to us–and if you are concerned about their socialist, anarchist direction, we ask you to support the Bozeman Tea Party today!
While the Bozeman Tea Party also opposes crony capitalism and big bank bailouts, we, unlike Occupy Wall Street, offer real solutions to real problems. We are opposed to government bailouts of any industry and believe in the principles of free enterprise, fiscal accountability and limited government. The answers to the problems we face lie within the individual-not with the government who have no constitutional authority to pick winners and losers. Free enterprise is the best way to develop small businesses and produce jobs, not increased taxes to support one-time, short-term, government funded jobs.
In sharp contrast to the Occupy Wall Street, the Tea Party seeks to restore America’s constitutional republic not take it down. We want the same opportunities given to us by our founding fathers and those who have fought for our freedom protected for our children and grandchildren for generations to come.
The Occupy movement alleges to represent 99% of Americans. George Soros, Moveon.org, filmmaker Michael Moore, the unions, elite Hollywood celebrities and liberal politicians publicly support the Occupy movement. In sharp contrast, the Tea Party is an all-volunteer grassroots movement humbly and honorably representing one-third of the American electorate who consider themselves members or supporters
While we have assessed the Occupy movement, we need to keep focused on our goals. Our plans for 2012 and beyond include:
- Organizing our second Get Out The Vote campaign in 2012. Rallies are meaningless if we do not get to the polls and vote.
- Holding Grassroots Activist Training sessions early in 2012.
- Hosting our annual Tax Day Tea Party, our second “Keep the Flame” Alive Conference this April 15-16, 2012 and other rallies.
- Working to uphold our right to free speech, even when the Montana State Attorney General refuses to abide by the U.S. Supreme Court’s rulings.
- Continuing our work to develop and strengthen the Montana Tea Party Coalition, a loosely organized confederation of Tea Parties from around the state which we helped initiate.
- Educating our community about the value of our constitutional republic and free market system, especially when compared to the economic and violent failures of socialism and communism around the world.
Our goals aim high and we need to if we want to impact 2012 like we did 2010. If you want to make a difference, support the Bozeman Tea Party with a generous contribution today! We need your help to keep us going at full-strength.
