If you’re like us, you’re getting tons of emails from Tea Party/Liberty groups from around the state calling for action.  We sometimes can react that quickly because we are an all-volunteer organization and most of us have jobs, families and other responsibilities. So don’t wait for us to tell you what bills to act.  Just do it.

Here are four ways you can impact the legislature in Helena.

1. Attend a hearing. Hearings are posted on the Montana Legislature website.You can also look up hearing dates on specific legislation by looking up the bill.Do your homework. Read and understand the bill. Get your facts straight. Base your opinions on facts. Bring your talking points or speech.Practice it.Be respectful—you lose points when you lose your cool.Sign up on the sheet at the hearings to testify and deliver it. It’s a great experience.
2. Call the Committee chairman, vice chairman and committee members by phone at 1-406-444-4800 and leave a message and urge them to support these bills.You can leave a phone message for up to 5 members.  For a list of Senate Committees and member, click here. 3. Write and deliver an online message for legislators using this form www.leg.mt.gov/message.  You can write a message to individual legislators or members of an entire Committee.
